Took a break from model painting to work on some terrain today. Went to the local big box hardware store. Picked up some decorative trim as a starting point. Not quite 1/4 round or baseboard stuff. This is used to put some pizzaz on cabinets. 2 bucs for 4 feet. Cut it into 6 inch lengths. Drilled four holes into the top and then stretched and glued in some paper clips. This would give a bit more area to glue onto. Then, broke out the hot glue gun. Lil hot glue and some railroad talus from the hobbyshop had me here. (This is where my fingers gave out. I still have 4 more feet to glue tomorrow.) Priming and painting, a little highlighting and washing. Nothing fancy. Extreme amatuer tip: While at the hardware store, cruise the discount paint bins. Many times you can find colors no one else liked that are perfectly usable for terrain purposes. Picked up two shades of grey and a light brown for $.50 a piece in a half pint volume. Also, those tester colors that they blend up in half pints are perfect for terrain. Paid $3 for one which is $.50 for the same basic shade of brown in a lil vallehjo tube at the FLGS. Glues on some green lichen. Woodland scenics I think. Had some brown in the bin as well so I mixed it up to give some contrast. Shot with a Marder II to give you an idea of final size. I figure when it is all said and done, I probably have about $.50 or less in it per 6 inch chunk. Scale is good enough to work with 28mm as well.

Nice man! It's always good to see some sweet terrain getting made, and thanks for basically making it a tutorial too!
Sooner or later after we get everything at the store organized and get shelving put in (and after the store figures out what it wants to do as far as knocking down walls), I was thinking of adding more "specialized" terrain like this. We have MORE than enough 28/32mm Sci-Fi terrain, but we are lacking in 28/32mm steam-punk stuff (housing/buildings, walls, etc) and obviously 15mm terrain.
Of course, there's a lot of planning, preparation, and organization that has to happen before then but I think adding terrain like this to the club's collection will help a lot for those who want to play a pick-up game of FoW, so again, thanks for the how-to guide.

Hehe.
And I just picked up another 8 feet of material today. So between your 16 feet, and my 16 feet, I'm guessing I don't have to worry about a Normandy invasion!
Roads though. Roads are what we need. I saw an interesting idea using landscape cloth and liquid nails. I didn't feel like picking up 50 yards of it today (for those of you playing at home, 50 yards of 3 foot wide cloth transformed into 2 inch wide roads equals 900 yards of road.)
