So I'm working on an Elysian army (among many other things) - it's actually on hold pending the release (in March, hopefully) of Imperial Armor 8 which promises to bring the Elysian list in line with the new Guard codex. In the interim, I'm working on some test models for the color scheme which I think will be based on UK forces presently in Afghanistan...dunno why other than they look about the part. Will post more as the project goes along.

Three test models assembled and primed - will post pre- and post-photos of the three test color schemes for comment and opinion. This may become (with admin permission) a bit of a project diary depending on how it goes.
Right now, I've got a whole mess of Elysian infantry (thank you, eBay), 3 Tauros Venators, 4 Elysian sentinels, two batteries of sentry guns, a Thunderbolt, 3 Vultures, 2 Vendettas and 7 Valkyries for this army. I have a test Valkyrie put together and in progress on painting (photos also to be put up in this) and once I hammer out a paint scheme for the infantry, I'll get them going too.
Also need to work up some fluff for the regiment - that will come in time, I'm sure.

Hey, Gordon!
Wow, I'm quite impressed with what you've collected! I can't WAIT to see pictures of this beautiful army!
Get 'em up, man!
PS: I'm wondering if you like Apocalypse, given the massive amounts of Forge World products you own. You have a whole squadron of flyers/skimmers so being able to slap that down for an Apocalypse battle only makes sense to me. What do you think?

Ironically, I've never played Apoc, though I really want to. I'd love to see the Elysians get in there, especially once IA 8 comes out and I have current rules for them. As to the project, here's the "willing volunteers" who will be the color scheme test beds: Hoping to try out the colors this weekend and post results for comment.

Test 1: Test 2 Test 3 None of the visor colors are fixed - I can certainly swap them around based on what looks best. Okay, I'm open to your thoughts out there - lay it on me! Oh, and here's their ride:

Personally, I like number 2 the most. The contrast between their fatigues and armor looks really good, while the other two look more camouflaged but less finished, I guess. There's my 2 cents.

Yup, my vote is #2 as well. Amy agrees too.

And what about these? Better or worse than 2? Good grief, that sounds like an optometry visit...

Like I said, they look more camouflaged, but less finished and distinctive. #2's armor has a very nice contrast with the fatigues, and the camouflage on the fatigues looks good, too. These ones look a little less distinctive and lack the nifty camouflage, I think.

Still agreed. It's hard to get away from the dark armor/light clothing look of Cadians, but it's common because it looks fantastic. Additionally your #2 armor color matches the hull color of the Valkyrie. Just my opinion though. It really comes down to which you think you'd like to see on your models and which scheme you're comfortable with painting over and over again until it's all done.

Well, the collection keeps expanding (4 more squads, 3 Tauros Venators and 3 Tauros Assault vehicles). I've got about a platoon assembled now - will get a pre-painting shot tonight and then actually put brush to figures to see what this looks like with some color.

NEW BOOK IS OUT! Woot! I've been waiting for IA8 for a long time and it's now on order and should be here soon! Finally, I'll have rules and can build the army to match an actual list! Woo! ;D ;D ;D

Got my book, finally, and I'm restructuring my list into three platoons plus veterans and stormtroopers. Now that the platoons can take special and heavy weapons teams as opposed to just the HQ (as in the IA3 list), I need to shuffle some things around. But I'm looking at Platoon 1 being a general use platoon, 2 being an assault platoon, 3 being fire support and 4 being a deep strike/reserve. Two squads of vets - one combat engineers and one longer-range fire support, two of stormtroopers, and a whole bucket of flyers and I think I've got a start. Platoon one will be first up, so I'll work on getting photos as I can. ;D
