Hey there guys I was just making a joke list today and a thought came to me. How few models can I fit in a list? Well I did the math and the list that I came up with for Dark Angels is below. First though a few rules that I followed and you should too to keep this thread entertaining.
1. The list is a legal 2000 pts army 2. The list is built to use as few models as possible 3. The list is not designed to win, just to have very few minis at 2000 pts
Following the above rules is my list.
Belial -Twin Lightning laws
Azrael
Deathwing Terminator Squadron -Chainfist/Assault Cannon -4x Chainfist/Stormbolter
Deathwing Terminator Squadron -Chainfist/Assault Cannon -2x Chainfist/Stormbolter -Chainfist/Stormbolter/Deathwing Company Banner -Chainfist/Stormbolter/Apothecary
Land Raider -Multi-melta -Extra Armor -Stormbolter -Hunter killer missile
Land Raider -Multi-melta -Extra Armor -Stormbolter -Hunter killer missile
Land Raider -Multi-melta -Extra Armor -Stormbolter -Hunter killer missile
Dreadnought -Venerable -Lascannon
My list has a grand total of 16 models on the table! What can you guys do with your favorite armies?

OK, here goes:
Armored Battlegroup
Company Command Tank - 160 Vanquisher upgrade +5 Lascannon +15 Plasma Cannons +40 Camo Netting +20 Coax Heavy Stubber +10
Leman Russ Executioner - 190 points Lascannon +15 Plasma Cannons +40 Extra Armor +15 Camo Netting +20
Leman Russ Executioner - 190 points Lascannon +15 Plasma Cannons +40 Extra Armor +15 Camo Netting +20
Leman Russ Executioner - 190 points Lascannon +15 Plasma Cannons +40 Extra Armor +15 Camo Netting +20
Leman Russ Executioner - 190 points Lascannon +15 Plasma Cannons +40 Extra Armor +15 Camo Netting +20
Leman Russ Executioner - 190 points Lascannon +15 Plasma Cannons +40 Extra Armor +15
Leman Russ Vanquisher - 155 Lascannon +15 Extra Armor +15 Coax Heavy Stubber +10 Plasma Cannons +40
Medusa - 135
Grand Total - 2000 points Model Count - 8
Not only does it have half the models, but it's extremely well equipped to deal with pesky Deathwing armies.
By the by, I didn't build it to win. Executioners are very expensive in their own right, and I'd never take Camo Netting normally, except it burns 20 points apiece.

Company command tank? You don't have to have a command squad?
Anyways, here's mine, came up with it a few months ago. Not the smallest amount of guys (the point of the thread, I know), but it's competent and fun.
2,000 Points, 31 Models
HQ Mephiston
Troops 5x Assault Marines - Land Raider Crusader + Multi-Melta 5x Assault Marines - Land Raider Crusader + Multi-Melta 5x Assault Marines - Land Raider Crusader + Multi-Melta 5x Assault Marines - Land Raider 5x Assault Marines - Land Raider
"Smallest model count" list coming soon...

Armored Battlegroup rules. That's why there's six Executioners but no infantry

Armored Battlegroup rules :D That's out of Imperial Armor, Scags, so you're cheating. I might as well say "Warlord Titan" for 2,000 points and I win with 1 model! Come on dude, make a real "smallest model count" list... As for my smallest model count list, here it is, I tied Dmitry! HQ Chief Librarian Mephiston, Lord of Death The Sanguinor Elites 5x Terminators TH/SS -LRC Dedicated Transport (all options but searchlight) Troops 5x Death Company (Thunder Hammers & Bolt Pistols) -LRC Dedicated Transport (all options but searchlight) Death Company Dreadnought (all options but searchlight) Heavy Stormraven Gunship (add Hurricane Bolter Sponsons) 16 models, 2,000 points exactly!

Oh tsk. Fine.
The Sanguinor - 275
Mephiston - 250
5x Death Company - 100 5x Thunder Hammers +150 Plasma Pistol +15 5x Jump Packs +75
Death Company Dreadnought - 125 Heavy Flamer +10 Magna Grapple +15 Searchlight +1
Furioso Dreadnought - 125 Searchlight +1
Stormraven Gunship - 200 Typhoon Missile Launchers +25 Hurricane Bolters +30 Extra Armor +15 Locator Beacon +15 Searchlight +1
Stormraven Gunship - 200 Typhoon Missile Launchers +25 Hurricane Bolters +30 Extra Armor +15 Locator Beacon +15 Searchlight +1
Stormraven Gunship - 200 Typhoon Missile Launchers +25 Hurricane Bolters +30 Extra Armor +15 Locator Beacon +15 Searchlight +1
Precisely 2000 points, and it clocks in at 12 models. And it's not a Forge World list. Take that!

I can't believe you beat me at my own codex! Blood Angels definitely take the cake for lowest model c........ [Hive Mind Takes Over] HQ Hive Tyrant (TL-Dev, Heavy VC, AG, Implant Attack, Regen, Toxic Miasma, TS, Wings, Hive Com, Old Adv) Hive Tyrant (TL-Dev, Heavy VC, AG, Implant Attack, Regen, Toxic Miasma, TS, Wings, Hive Com, Old Adv) Troops 3x Warriors (Lash Whip/Bone Sword, Deathspitter, AG, TS, one VC) 3x Warriors (Lash Whip/Bone Sword, Deathspitter, AG, TS, one VC) Heavy 3x Carnifexes (Crushing Claws, Heavy VC, AG, Bio-Plasma, Frag Spines, Regen, TS) 2,000 points, 11 MODELS!Yup, Tyranids win this game. The crazy thing is the Hive Tyrants are able to skyrocket in cost to 430 points each! That makes them the most expensive single models in all of 40k! And people wonder why I say the Swarmlord is a steal!

Curses! You win!
Although, interesting fact: while a Blood Angels captain cannot take a suit of artificer armor, they can take two thunder hammers if they take terminator armor. Not exactly a useful option, but interesting.

Man, they really dropped the ball on Blood Angels captains, huh? They honestly did, and I have no idea why. I would NOT mind running a vanilla captain with average stats who could pay for cool wargear and weapons. Why the hell can't Blood Angels do that but every other marine chapter can? Sure I can get a spiffy 'nilla Chaplain, but if I'm not taking him I can only get a sh itty 'nilla Librarian or uuber special characters. :/ Not to impressed with this book's HQ choices.

Bet my librarian sucks more, my chaplain is meh, and my company masters REALLY suck, I HAVE to use special characters to do any godd HQ'ing. Back on topic though, HOLY COW, those are some scray low model counts, I though DA had it in the bag, guess I was wrong...

But the difference is my codex is brand new and is thus screwed for another six years or so. You only have to wait until next summer or fall or something.
